The Lyke Wake Walk with YTO

Updated: Sep 13

The Lyke Wake Walk is a 40 mile crossing of the North York Moors. It’s an epic day out which tests the participants physically and mentally.

The Yorkie Talkies Outdoors guided Lyke Wake Walk starts at the crack of dawn in Osmotherley and ends at the edge of a moor above Ravenscar.

Transport to the start can be booked (after leaving your car or getting dropped off in Ravenscar), copious amounts of delicious food and drink is available at four checkpoints across the route and you’ll receive a warm welcome at the end including hot drinks and the presentation of your traditional coffin badge.

Training for the 2025 guided Lyke Wake Walk involves walking, lots of it! Progress from 10 mile day walks to 15 and 20 milers. Challenge events such as the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and the Ullswater Way are also an excellent way to prepare.

From the moment of booking to the waving you off on your journey home, you will receive the support of the YTO team.

*Training tips

*Kit advice

*A dedicated WhatsApp group where all information will be shared

*Group online video call where we will take you through the day step by step and answer any questions.

Payment plans are available to spread the cost. Deposit required. Email us for details.

If you’re interested in booking for 2025, go for it! But first, read on and be inspired.
