I launched Yorkie Talkies Outdoors six years ago. Since then it has expanded and grown to become an outdoor activities provider.

I have always been interested in business. I completed a business studies course and worked in the corporate world for 12 years.

From the age of 16, it was always a dream to have my own business and I’m now thrilled to be seeing Yorkie Talkies Outdoors blossom.

I absolutely love leading people in the outdoors. It’s a privilege to show people our beautiful countryside. I especially enjoy challenges. Supporting people to achieve their goals is the best feeling in the world!

The outdoors has done wonders for me, and I can see how much it does for others. Seeing people building their confidence, increasing their fitness and ultimately changing their lives through taking part in YTO walks and events is my reason for doing this job.

ABOUT ME - GEMMA LUMLEY

Hiking in the mountains has been a much-loved way of life for me for well over 10 years. It has been
fantastic for my fitness and mental health and I’m thrilled to be sharing the joy, occasional hard graft
and stunning views with others through the fantastic Yorkie Talkies Outdoors. I am a qualified hill and moorland leader with oodles of experience in the hills and peaks of the UK and around the world, but I’m still not a
‘natural’ hiker. I like a steady pace on descent, enjoy an uphill (but know how to slow down and soak
up the scenery) and I HATE boggy ground!

I am a qualified mountain leader, scout leader, coach in kayaking/canoeing and very much enjoy walking in the hills and countryside.

I started walking a few years ago and fell in love with the mountains especially the Lake District. My favourite days are getting out in the mountains then having a relaxing Paddle around the closest Lake. I am very much looking forward to meeting you on one of our walks soon.

ABOUT ME - ABI HARGREAVES

Hi, I’m Abi and I’m an outdoor enthusiast! I’ve always loved being active and enjoy a gentle stroll with my energetic dog, Belle, but also revel in a good challenge. I am a qualified mountain leader and in recent years I’ve learnt to scuba dive, surf and climb, all helping to develop my skills on the hills.

I take great pleasure in meeting new people and sharing adventures with others. I’m excited to be able to introduce newcomers to the wonder of the outdoors and enrich outings of the more experienced, alongside my own

ABOUT ME - Stuart Jackson

*Outdoor First Aid Trained
*Over 20 years of outdoor experience
*Grew up "playing out" on the North York Moors
*Working towards gaining my Mountain Leader Qualification
*Works in Technical Sales for an engineering company

I am a keen mountain biker and have competed in XC and Enduro races over the years. I also enjoy Trail running/races and hiking, especially scrambling in the Lake District and Wales. I also enjoy jumping on a paddle board to relax at the end of a hard mountain day.

I love sharing the outdoors with my family. Josh, my 12-year-old son, is as enthusiastic as me and we ride mountain bikes and hike together.

Since joining YTO back in 2019 I have naturally become a helping hand on many of the challenges events and bigger days. I am now booked onto an outdoor first aid training course and I’m planning on doing Mountain Leader training in the near future.

I’m looking forward to meeting more people and seeing them achieve amazing things on our next adventure with YTO.

ABOUT ME - Robb Sayers

*Trainee Mountain Leader

When I was little, my grandparents used to take me and my brother hiking around the country and beyond. I loved it. In more recent years, I gained lots of weight due to lack of exercise and poor diet. Getting back into to hiking and making healthier food choices has helped me lose 7 stone so far.

I joined Yorkie Talkies Outdoors in November 2022 for my first walk and instantly knew this was something I wanted to be a part of.

Since that first walk, I've joined YTO on lots of incredible experiences including the National 3 Peaks, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, the Wharfdale 3 Peaks, and the Lyke Wake Walk.

Having worked in front of a computer for the best part of 13 years, I've always wanted to be able to work outdoors so when the opportunity arose to join the incredible YTO team I knew it was something I couldn't turn down.

The Yorkie Talkies has done so much for my mental health and really helped me become a more confident person. Seeing other people join walks for the first time and watching them smash their goals, improve fitness and push themselves further than they imagined, it humbles me that I get to be part of that.

When I'm not out walking, I love being out on my paddleboard and have recently started climbing, but I'm still 'learning the ropes'.

My main job is working in Procurement for the energy industry.
