FAQ's Frequently Asked Questions

Meet the Team: About

Can I bring my dog?
Yes, we welcome well behaved dogs on leads. To keep everyone on the event safe
and happy, there are some simple rules to follow, they can be found here -
www.yorkietalkies.co.uk/post/yes-we-are-a-dog-friendly

Can children come to your events?
Yes, they can, but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult, able to walk
the distance advertised and have the correct kit. They are more than welcome to
come to paddle boarding events too.

Is there a membership?
No, there is no joining fee or subscription to pay. We are not a walking group, we are
an outdoor activities company providing guided hikes, walking holidays, challenge
walks, paddle boarding sessions, navigation courses and bespoke events. You can
therefore join us for a single one-off event or walk with us every weekend. The Yorkie
Talkies Outdoors experience is different for every client.

Can I come alone?
Yes! Most people do come alone, 90% of people didn’t know anyone until their first
walk.

What are good events to start with?
We do 5-mile walks, York Socials of 6-7 miles. Our shorter evening walks are good
for beginners too -www.yorkietalkies.co.uk/events-yto

How do I get to events?
It is your responsibility to get yourself to an event. Each event has a drop pin in the
description. You click the link, and it will take you directly to the parking via Google
Maps. We always recommend checking where you are going and how long it will
take the night before. Avoid using postcodes as they cover a too large area, so it’s
easy to miss the parking spot.

Is there car sharing facilities?
Yes, there is a big car share WhatsApp group. The business does not take any
responsibility for this, but it does work very well. If you wish to be involved, please
email us.

Why would I pay for an event when there a free walking groups online?

Read more about who we are here - www.yorkietalkies.co.uk/post/why-book-and-pay

How fit do I have to be? Will I slow people down?
If you’re unsure about your fitness, we recommend booking a shorter walk such as 5
miler or a 6–7-mile evening walk to see how you feel during the walk and after. We
pride ourselves on being an inclusive group and we love watching people who
doubted their capabilities prove themselves wrong. You’ll be amazed and how soon
you might progress from 5 miles to 10-mile hill walks, but there is no pressure to
push yourself.
